About the Greene Family The Greene family have been in the licenced trade since 1915, initially in Greene's of William Street (presently known as The Greene Café). Bryan Greene took over the family business in 1959. In 1969, a three and a half acre site was purchased on the Ennis Road and 'The Hotel Greenhills' opened its doors in April 1970. Over the years it has expanded and developed to the present level of a 60 bedroom grade Three Star Hotel with extensive conference and function facilities. A state of the art Leisure Centre was added in 1991 which was upgraded and extended in 1998. Facilities include an 18 metre heated pool, children's pool, sauna, steamroom and a fully equipped gym with an outdoor tennis court. The Hotel, located just 15 minutes from Shannon International Airport and 5 minutes from Limerick City, is an ideal base location for visiting Limerick, Cork, Galway and Killarney. Limerick itself is a cosmopolitan yet medieval city which boasts the Hunt Museum, King John's Castle and St.Mary's Cathedral among its attractions. 5 minutes from the Hotel in the Ennis direction you will find the impressive Bunratty Castle. The Unicorn Pub and Restaurant has been established for the last 45 years in the Dooradoyle area of Limerick and has become a landmark on the old Cork-Limerick road. Now under the management of the next generation in the Greene family, Bryan A. Greene, the aims of the Greene family remain the same, simply "to provide a personalised, warm, efficient service thus ensuring growth and success." In October 2005 The Unicorn Bar revealed its Late Bar license making it the first official Late Bar in the Limerick suburbs. The bar now serves every Friday and Saturday night til 1.30am and live bands perform every weekend followed by a top resident dj. Manager Bryan A.
